Beaches
We are at the beach after all! Long Island has some really beautiful beaches. Even if you are not a “beach person” we would recommend at least visiting one and going for a stroll. Sunset is gorgeous as the light is really wonderful. Daytime of course is the best time for sun worshiping. The water in September should still be warm enough to swim as well! The Hamptons actually has a rich history in art and culture. Here are a couple of must see's Check the guides in the Useful Links section for more info.
Location: End of Atlantic Avenue off Route 27, on the Atlantic Ocean.
Description: This is our staple beach where we spend most of our weekends. It is a low key beach with good parking and mostly locals.
Details: Lifeguards, food stand, restrooms, surfing area. Daily parking fee for non-residents. For permit information, call 324-4143.
Atlantic Ave Beach, Amagansett
Location: End of Indian Wells Plain Highway, off Route 27, on the Atlantic Ocean. Directly in front of Ocean Dunes.
Description: Near Atlantic Beach. This is also a great beach but we like Atlantic better.
Details: Lifeguards, restrooms. Parking for seasonal permit holders only.
Indian Wells Beach, Amagansett
Location: Follow Main St from East Hampton to Ocean Ave.
Description: This is a much bigger beach than the other two with a nice cabana area.
Details: There's a life guard on duty from Memorial Day to Labor Day -- after that, you're on your own. COST: East Hampton Town parking permit required weekends and holidays; parking weekdays $10. Memorial Day-Labor Day, lifeguards daily 10-5.
